Sneak Peek at Black Friday Sale!

Pssst...here's a look at the 2 sets we'll have for sale on Black Friday.

Actually, for newsletter subscribers, it'll be a day early.

Stack o' Cupcakes return! Our cupcake sampler from last year was such a hit that we've decided to bring it back again. You can't have too much of a good thing right? You'll get 3 - 2.5 oz of Sugar Cloud in the following cupcakey declicious scents: Lemon Cream Chiffon, Zesty Pumpkin and making a return from last year, White Vanilla. These cute scrubs are decorated just like real cupcakes, come in a frosted gift bag and housed in a holiday themed liner. How cute is that?!

Holiday 2009 Sampler - next up is this season's holiday sampler to make your bath merry and bright. We're debuting our new scrub, Whipped Cream and Sugar, that's a reformulation of last year's Cream & Sugar scrub. This time around, we've whipped up the butters and oils to a frosting like consistency for a truly decadent experience. We've also reformulated it so it rinses clean, leaving just a touch of moisture and fragrance on your skin.

Oh right, we were talking about the Sampler. Okay, the sampler contains 5 - 2 oz. products featuring our new Retro Holiday labels. The goods: True Lustre Conditioner in Cranberry Sparkle, All Tressed Up Sulfate-Free Shampoo in Cranberry Lime Cupcake, Bath Cloud in Pistachio Cream Pie, Flutter Butter (check out The Luxury Spot's review of Flutter Butter) in Nutmeg Divine and finally, Whipped Cream and Sugar Scrub in Vanilla Snaps - a scent exclusive to our Holiday Sampler.

Fragrance Bar Crisis Resolved

Okay, I've loaded all our new and returning Holiday scents under the New Scents section of our Fragrance Bar. Thank you for your patience. Of course, it was a user-generated error and I apparently broke some kind of HTML code. Surprise, surprise. I'm the dangerous type of "coder." I know just enough to get by, but if I break something...I know nothing of how to fix it because I don't really understand the error message it's giving me! As my mum would say in Tagalo, "Ay naku!" (Translated to something like Oy vey I think.)

Anyway, so I sent the newsletter out then went to bed. I woke up this morning to an inbox full of e-mails inquiring about the sale. As I read through them, I realized that there was a common thread to the questions. So here are the 2 questions I got asked most.

1. Why did you drop the limit to qualify for Global Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope/Box?

We dropped it from $50 to $40 because technically, with the 25% off discount, you'd actually be able to purchase $62.50 worth of Holiday sale goodies for $50. $62.50 worth of merch will definitely not fit in a flat rate box or envelope. Due to the sale, $50 worth of merchandise will only actually cost $37.50 so we had to make this adjustment to our shipping to accomodate for the discount.

2. This is a big discount. Are you going to have a bigger sale for Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Broke Tuesday (I made this one up, tee hee!)

No. We're going to have a special sale for Black Friday, but nothing as big as the one we're currently running. For Black Friday, we're going to be offering our Holiday Gift sets, taking down the entire Fragrance Bar, but keeping the Holiday scents around. We'll have a special coupon code for newsletter subscribers only (so please don't forget to subscribe) that's good for a percentage off your entire purchase. So it basically works out to this: For this week, till Thursday, November 26th, you can enjoy 25% off our Holiday goodies or wait till next week and enjoy a smaller discount, but it will be off your entire purchase (that's our gift sets and holiday goodies.) Does that make sense?

We've been talking about our holiday sales schedule here at CLC and we've been bouncing ideas around since September so please know that we put a lot of thought and preparation into this. We wanted to have staggered sales and promotions so if one doesn't appeal to you, then maybe the next one will.

As always, we thank you and deeply appreciate your support of CLC.

'Tis all!

Pages not loading in Fbar

Okay, it's getting late over here. I've been wrestling with the New Scents page on our website. I'm going to call it a night and post our scent descriptions here for now. I'll tackle this tomorrow. Actually, I'm going to make a phone call to Tim who will then fix whatever it is I broke :)

New Scents
& Re-released Scents

Holiday 2009 Collection: What's that? Bah humbug you say? Banish the winter blues and celebrate the holiday season with these heartwarming scents that's sure to put you in a merry mood! Inspired by everything merry and bright.

Comfort & Joy (Another CLC Creation) Holiday 2009 Collection: The name came before the scent and we set off to create a blend that would embody the true meaning of this phrase. The result is nothing short of heartwarming. Warm sweet milk, lashings of Indonesian cinnamon, nutmeg and pumpkin spice come together to create a blend that's as comforting as your favourite fleece blankie. Wear this and find the familiar comfort you seek when you find yourself knee-deep in the Holiday rush.

Cozy Sandalwood (Another CLC Creation) Holiday 2009 Collection: Here's something for non-foody lovers. Cozy Sandalwood is a warm scent with a hint of spiciness. Sandalwood's subtle sultriness, with its darkly sweet and woodsy background, serves as the perfect canvas from which sugar and spiced citrus notes unfold. Notes: sandalwood, orange peel, cinnamon, a dash of ginger and a sprinkle of brown sugar.

Cranberry Lime Cupcakes (Another CLC Creation) Holiday Cupcakes 2008 Collection: Even the biggest Scrooge will love this adorable cupcake sniff. Smooth and velvety key lime buttercream frosting sits atop a rich yellow cupcake studded with sugared cranberries. The tartness of both lime and cranberry is wonderfully complemented when set against the warm, buttery notes of a fresh baked cupcake. And to keep things interesting, the quintessential holiday scent of pine and cedar sits softly in the background, enhancing what is, an already delightful blend.

Cranberry Sparkle (Another CLC Creation) Holiday 2009 Collection: A cranberry blend that you can take seriously. Sometimes cranberry can come off as being too fruity-tart-sweet, but not in this composition. Wisps of crisp winter air laced with pine and mint make this a clean and very wearable fragrance to commemorate the Holiday season. While definitely a cranberry based blend, the drydown is cool, crisp and clean with cranberry's sweet and tart notes fading into the background, but still present to give this blend its playful twist.

Candied Ginger Cupcake (Another CLC Creation) Holiday Cupcakes 2008 Collection: A slight reformulation of last year's Ginger Lemon Cupcakes. Recipe - 1 part lemon cupcake + 2 parts ginger infusion + Greedy heapings of lemon zest buttercream frosting + a handful of candied ginger sprinkles = a warm, rich and full-bodied lemony delight that's sure to make you feel all warm and shnuggly.

Frosty Jubilee (Another CLC Creation) Holiday 2009 Collection: Sugar glazed black cherries sit atop a scoop of rich vanilla ice cream. This frozen treat is studded with cherry and vanilla mini meringue puffs to add sweetness and finished with a light drizzle fo peppermint syrup for a festive flair. Let the party begin!

Lemon Cream Chiffon Cupcake (Another CLC Creation) Holiday Cupcakes 2009 Collection: Wow. This is unbelievably, lemony-goodness yummy. Who can resist light as air lemon chiffon cupcakes decadently frosted with vanilla buttercream? If you're not convinced yet...what if we told you that this cupcake sniff has a secret cream cheese center? Oh and what if we rolled the frosting in roughly crumbled sugar cookies? Ha! We knew it! We already had you at "unbelievably, lemony-goodness yummy!" The rest is was just...vanilla frosting on the cupcake...

Nutmeg Divine (Another CLC Creation) Holiday 2009 Collection: The door bursts open and you fall into the arms of eager relatives who shower you with hugs and kisses. You're home again and all the familiar smells greet you... fresh baked snickerdoodle cookies cooling on the rack and Uncle Sal's lethal eggnog punch spiked with rum and generous shakes of nutmeg let you know that you are indeed home. You smile broadly, inhale deeply and wonder why you ever left. Notes: Nutmeg set against rich, creamy eggnog, brown sugar, warm baking spices and sugar cookie batter.

Pistachio Cream Pie (Another CLC Creation) Holiday 2009 Collection: Smooth, creamy
and absolutely delicious. This is a sniff that's grand in its simplicity. Sweet pistachio cream filling with hidden treasures of crushed pistachios fills a rich graham cracker crust. We think this is a scent that will appeal to just about everyone. It's comforting, unhurried and smooth and strikes a familiar sweet chord in our hearts.

Oh No A Mistletoe! (Another CLC Creation) Holiday 2009 Collection: The line of suitors wanting to kiss you keeps growing. What is it about tonight that makes you even more irresistible? Why it's your black tea and rose perfume mingling so beautifully with the scent of the mistletoe you find yourself standing under! English holly sprigs, fresh picked cranberries and pine collide with the sweetest and most sophisticated rose fragrance and men just can't help themselves. Pucker up sweet cheeks...it's gonna be a long night!

Warm and French Toasty (Another CLC Creation) Holiday 2009 Collection: Rich and inviting, this french toast sniff pays homage to the now closed, but still famous Figaro Cafe in NYC's West Village. Thick slices of Challah bread dipped in a creamy buttermilk batter, rolled in sugar dusted corn flakes then griddled to a golden brown perfection. Upping the decadence factor and making you more weak-kneed, we top this blend off with a dollop of hazelnut vanilla cream. The drydown is divine, where warm baking spices and white vanilla come to rest.

White Vanilla Cupcakes (Another CLC Creation) Holiday Cupcakes 2008 Collection: Here's one for the ages for all you vanilla lovers out there. Vanilla cupcake made with vanilla bean puree is merely the vessel that carries the rich sweet vanilla frosting to your mouth. It took three different vanillas and months of trying to create the base for this blend. The result is
100% pure vanilla indulgence. Enjoy!

Zesty Pumpkin Cupcake (Another CLC Creation) Holiday Cupcakes 2009 Collection: Not just any ol' pumpkin cupcake sniff! We folded orange zest into the batter and frosted this goodie with heaps of orange buttercream. Crushed walnuts, heavy handed shakes of cinnamon and handfuls of raisins perfect this treat. See...we told you it was good!

Holiday 2009 Scents Launching Tomorrow

I'm hoping to have all the work done for the launch of our Holiday 2009 Collection no later than 5 pm ET tomorrow. I still have a bit of work to do, but I'm pretty confident we can get this done by tomorrow.

So here's a sample of our limited edition Holiday 2009 labels. Do you like it? I absolutely love it and I've been walking around with samples showing anyone who'll spare me a minute.

Holiday scents will be on sale at 25% off. Most of you know we rarely ever have sales, so as to control turnaround time, and especially not at this discount point so we're really excited to get this sale going!

The sale will run till Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26th. At that point, the entire Fragrance Bar comes down and fragrance choices will feature just the Holiday 2009 Collection. We'll also be launching our Holiday Gift Sets so stay tuned because we have tons of exciting things in store for you.

Speaking of exciting...I'm so excited to go home! Philippines here I come! More on my trip later...

Wordly Wednesday - Cusco, Peru

I'm posting first thing in the morning so I don't miss another WW post.

More pictures from Peru...

San Blas Church in Cusco. Notice the crystal blue sky? Gorgeous right?

Town square (Plaza de Armas) in Cusco.

Sacsayhuamán (pronounced kind of like Sexy Woman). One of the first ruins we visited upon landing in Cusco.

Hello? Anybody up there?
The birth of Tetris as we know it today. This is amazing...this wall was constructed by fitting these rocks (boulders?) together without any mortar. Look how geometrically accurate each piece fits.

Till the next Wordly Wednesday post...
